HOMEMADE LOFI PSYCH --- WHERE TO START?

"There is so much great music here..." WHERE TO START???

I recommend to
start with the HLFP-Samplers (especially HLFP 04).
Here you will come to know many of the bands/musicians featured in this blog. If you like what you hear, you may check out more of their music later on.
(You may also click on the picture on the sidebar and you will find the original post with download links.)

There is also a "FOCUS ON..." section. Here you will find albums that imo are absolutely great (***** = "five-stars-recordings") and that are essential listening and strongly recommended for download.

I TRY to RE-UP some stuff that has been down from time to

time, but I still don't have enough time to

listen to/post much new stuff.

Sorry!

Alper Kaya - 5 tracks (TURK 2010)

ALPER KAYA (aka: alper ve sihirli gitarı' = ''alper and his magic guitar'') sent me some tracks to feature on HLFP. Alper is into experimental psych guitar sounds and records with rather primitive equipment:
"I recently started to record, so there are only 5 recordings. I don't have an expensive guitar, an amp or an effect pedal. I made my songs with a cheap guitar, a broken cable and a very old computer. That caused some 'harsh harsh' sounds, but they made it much more lo-fi and much more good..."
(A. K. via email)

Q: Where exactly are you from?
A: I was living in Istanbul, Turkey until this year. I moved to Ankara to study Industrial Design this year. I recorded these songs in my dormitory room.
Q: How recorded?
A: I don't (own) any equipments, but a cheap electric guitar, a blue cable and an old laptop computer. I don't have enough money to buy some expensive stuff. Actually, I don't need something expensive.
Q: When recorded?
A: Last days of 2009 and first days of 2010.
Q: Who involved? Who played what?
A: Only me. I wanted to put my voice into songs and speak/sing but i don't have a mic. So you are hearing only a guitar sound.
Q: Any more releases?
A: I've started recording recently. I do not have any other releases.
Q: Since when does this project exist/are you into music?
A: I've been into music since my high school years. This project started on December 2009.
Q: Any previous bands worth mentioning?
A: I was in a band at high school. We were making some noises and experimental sounds on the songs that we like. But there are no recordings of them.
Q: How'd you "label" your music?
A: I'd call it psychedelic and outsider.
Q: Influences?
A: There are many... mostly Syd Barrett, Alexander Skip Spence, Can, Beefheart, 13th Floor Elevators, early Hawkwind, The Phantom Payn, Henry Flynt and lots of 60s psychedelic music.
Q: Website?
You can mail me: alperkaya... (complete address in zip-file)
Q: Anything that you think is interesting, that you'd like to inform the blog readers about...
A: My music is more meaningful when it is played in (the) dark and before sleeping. It is hard to get used to this music, but after a few listenings you may become addicted to it.
One of my biggest dreams is to see another country and play my songs at different places on earth.

I hope Alper will continue to record, his first attempts are very promising.
